10-12,13 Nags Head 3

We had spent time at the beach, it was another beautiful day, and it was time to explore the outer banks. First, we had some noodling with Malcolm. And then we drove south, all the way to the end of the first island. We stopped along the way to see the Bodie Island light which was under renovation. Then we made Cape Hatteras. We explored
the lighthouse and some of the outbuildings. Aiden and Sean started finding little green frogs in the grass. Sean had a really hard time saying goodbye to them when we had to go.

To get to the next island we had to take an auto ferry, which was a great treat for us all. We saw some porpoises along the way. When we got to the next island we drove to the south end to see Ocracoke Lighthouse. Then it was time to head back.

On the way back North we stopped at a really good beach for the boys to swim at. It was a very gradual beach so there was lots of shallow water to wade in. They had a great time. The drive back was very long and we got back late.

The next day Kate and the boys were pretty tired. And the weather was turning rainy and dark. Sue and I took Gavin and went North to the Currituck Lighthouse. I could go up in the light so I took a picture of the lighthouse keepers hose from up above.
